The Iowa Yoga Festival is a three-day event designed to bring the Iowa yoga community together. The immersive event will unite new, intermediate, and advanced practitioners through immersion in the origins of yoga and the celebration of its festive spirit.
It all kicks off with a yogi party on Friday night. The celebration of yoga is open to both conference attendees and non-attendees. We’re taking over the downtown, so the party is free for all to attend. Music and dance will make this the biggest and best yogi party Des Moines has ever seen!
Throughout the rest of the weekend, educational workshops will provide a rich backdrop for the community to come together. Teachers from all over the globe will share their knowledge and gifts with attendees through asana classes for all levels. But it’s not just physical movement; with offerings like yoga nidra–the yoga of sleep, coupled with classes on mandalas, mantra meditation, and gong baths, each class offers something uniquely different. Treat yourself to a weekend of immersion in the world of yoga, and all that it has to offer!
What to Expect
The Iowa Yoga Festival has something for everyone, ranging from those new to the practice or experienced yogis. Teachers from around the globe will offer workshops for all levels, encompassing a variety of yoga styles, wellness practices, and meditation teachings.
Iowa’s Largest Yoga Class: During Friday night’s opening ceremony, participants will have the opportunity to take part in Iowa’s Largest Yoga Class. Following the class, we’ll have a yogi party to remember with live music and dancing. This event is free to the general public and will also be available virtually.
Workshops: Each day features a fresh program filled with workshops and options to suit each student’s needs. Workshops will cover a variety of topics, such as pranayama, seated meditation, yoga nidra, and asana practice for all levels, as well as masters classes.
Merchant Bazaar: At the center of the festival will be the Merchant Bazaar, which will showcase products and services related to yoga, health, and wellness. The vendor village will feature flotation therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, henna artist and much more.
Food Drive: 1 in 8 Iowans don’t have enough to eat. Many of these people are your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Let’s come together to help feed the people in our community. Bring food, paper goods, or personal hygiene product donations with you. Your donations will benefit Move the Food. Donations are not mandatory, but encouraged.
